Go Green with the 2017 Color of the Year

The New Year will bring many changes, so why not a new color to celebrate? Color experts at the Pantone Color Institute have named a refreshing and revitalizing shade, "Greenery", as the 2017 Color of the Year. The color, described as a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade, is said to be symbolic of new beginnings.

“The tangy yellow-green speaks to our desire to express, explore, experiment and reinvent, imparting a sense of buoyancy,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Through its reassuring yet assertive vibrancy, Greenery offers us self-assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, during a time when we are redefining what makes us successful and happy.”

Green is nature’s neutral and it plays beautifully integrated into home décor and architecture. Today’s popular open spaces seamlessly connect interior and exterior spaces often through floor-to-ceiling windows or folding and sliding glass doors. “Adding Greenery through living walls, terrariums, botanically-themed wallpaper, paint, accent furniture and decor provides respite and breathing space. A Greenery-painted wall or piece of furniture delivers a pop of color, with the added benefit of creating the illusion of nature indoors.”

Each year institute color experts consider color influencers across the globe as they make their final selection through trend analysis and thoughtful contemplation. That review can include design, entertainment, fashion, home products and even automotive color trends.

Greenery pairs well with a variety of colors. Try it with nudes, bright colors, forest neutrals, pastels and even metallics. It looks particularly sharp with shades of blue. Plan on a bright and green New Year!
