Home Fragrance – Luxury Signature Style

From your home’s landscape, the architecture, and interior design, your home says a lot about you. But if you really want to make the ultimate individual statement you might consider something you can’t see at all – a custom home fragrance. Top performing Portfolio agent   Liz Blue Braden has applied the luxury concept to the work she does with rave reviews. “Purchasing a home involves all the senses, and that includes scent. I wanted to create the coolest scent, something unique and different for my listings. Scent is curb appeal, it’s an in-person experience that sets me apart,“ she says about her fragrance, Blue Luxe.

Braden enlisted Suzanne Baur, owner and founder of  Surroundings Fragrances, to create Blue Luxe. Baur has a distinguished resume having designed and developed fragrances and scents for some of the most luxurious private residences, hotels and travel destinations in the U.S. including W Hotels, ZaZa Hotels, the Valencia Hotel Group, Hotel Modera in Portland, the Standard East Village in New York City and Florida’s Fisher Island Club Resort. She is currently working on creating fragrances for private airplanes. For Baur, it comes naturally, “I’ve got a nose God gave me. I smell everything, then I fine tune and tweak to make it just – Wow! Some are easy, some are complex.”

The unique nature of Baur’s work is individualized and memorable, “The fragrance of your surroundings is your invisible signature. It will always remind your guests of the beauty of your attention to detail - even those that can't be seen but only experienced. It’s the icing on the cake, the bow that makes the gift.” Baur, through association with a premier perfume house and renowned custom candle producer, creates fragrance wardrobes of oil based - liquid fragrances which have great depth and stronger scent, lighter scented candles and diffusers. Baur wanted to address the Blue Luxe lifestyle brand and thus created the candles in branded, etched cocktail tumblers. “When the candle is finished, they have a glass that will remind them of Blue Luxe.”

In creating Blue Luxe, Braden wanted to avoid overly sweet scents which she doesn’t like, choosing instead warm, rich and lush fragrance notes. For the final fragrance decision, she added her mentor and friend Lee Anthony of Lee Anthony Salon, who Braden describes as an expert at design visioning. With other friends and martinis, they settled on the exotic spice and fruit combination of amber, cardamom, bergamot and blackcurrant. “It’s not male or female, but reminiscent of the Greek Gods and a lifestyle that has existed through time,” says Braden. Baur loves its light citrus, fresh and crisp yet woodsy scent that is very much a high-end, luxury fragrance.

Baur translated the scent into a modern fragrance earlier this year both bottled and as a candle. Braden uses it for all her residential real estate listings. “It adds a sophistication and brings it up a notch,” she says. “It has an effect and leaves buyers with a remembrance of the home.” When clients buy one of Braden’s listing they are gifted with the fragrance including small atomizers for spraying. Additionally, as a board member of Women in Medicine and Law for the Cure, and  Any Baby Can San Antonio, as well as the founder of  Paint the Parkway Pink 5K, Braden has made it available for charity auctions. Blue is not only Braden’s middle name, but the maiden name of her mother, therefore it's particularly special to her and has become her own personal fragrance that she wears every day. “What I like is what I like. This embodies me; it’s perfect to live in.”
